Central Park is a total of 843 acres that is entirely man-made, and is visited by approximately 25 million people each year.

There are a total of 21 playgrounds, more than 48 fountains, monuments and sculptures in Central Park as well as over 9,000 benches that would stretch out 7 miles if placed end to end.

The park closes at 1:00 a.m. and opens at 6:00 a.m. every day of the year.

If you go to Central Park looking for peace and relaxation, there are six designated quiet zones.  These are:

• Strawberry Fields
• Sheep Meadow
• East Green
• Conservatory Garden
• Shakespeare Garden
• Turtle Pond

You will find signs posted in each of these areas stating policies of the area which include:

• This area is reserved for quiet enjoyment
• Musical instruments are not allowed
• Headphones are required for radios

Central Park is a haven for all visitors, a place where you can go to break the frenetic rhythms of the excitement so common to New York and what makes it the most exciting city in the world.  New Yorkers tend to think of Central Park as their own front yard.

There is usually something going on in Central Park every day of the week.

For kids, in addition to all the playgrounds, the Conservancy offers entertaining and educational programs at Belvedere Castle and The Charles A. Dana Discovery Center almost every weekend, and adventure programs at the North Meadow Recreation Center.

In the summer, check into Camp Central Park for the kids to learn how to experience new challenges, develop an awareness of the environment and explore the nature and variety of Central Park.

Central Park is definitely a staple attraction of New York that is a six-mile perimeter extending from Central Park West to Fifth Avenue and 59th Street to 110th Street.
