The town of Danvers is one of the earliest settlements in northeastern Massachusetts.  It is bordered by Salem on the southeast, Wenham and Beverly on the east, Topsfield on the north, Middleton on the west, and Peabody on the south

The town of Danvers is one of the earliest settlements in northeastern Massachusetts.  It is bordered by Salem on the southeast, Wenham and Beverly on the east, Topsfield on the north, Middleton on the west, and Peabody on the south.  It is 17 miles north of Boston and 231 miles from New York City.

The land that is now Danvers was once controlled by the Naumkeag branch of the Massachusetts tribe. 

The historical event for which Danvers is probably most well-known for is the witch hysteria of 1692.

The principal highways are U.S. Route 1, State Routes 62, 114, and 128, and Interstate Route 95.

Rail Service

Commuter rail service to North Station, Boston, is available from the neighboring towns of Salem and Beverly.

Bus Service

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority provides fixed route service to neighboring communities.  This service also provides THE RIDE, a paratransit service for the elderly and disabled.
