The Bombay is a cross between a black American Shorthair and a sable Burmese, created by a serious breeder in Louisville, Kentucky. It was accepted by CFA in 1976. This cat is a striking black and is the blackest cat in the cat fancy. Paw pads are black as well.
The Bombay resembles a black panther of the jungle.
They are nick-named: “the patent leather kids with the new-penny eyes.”

Physical Description:
• Solid body and dense, you can see the muscles rippling as it runs across the room
• Coat is jet-black, gleaming and shiny
• Eyes are gold to copper
• Medium-size, well-balanced cats with males weighing an average of 8-10 pounds and females averaging 7-8 pounds
• Should have a sweet facial expression

Grooming Tips
• This is one of the easiest cat breeds to groom and bathe
• Very little shedding due to the very short coats
• Monthly bath helps to make shedding almost nonexistent
The Bombay cat is slow to mature into full development.
