The European Burmese refers to Burmese cats developed by the British.  The name marks it as a different CFA breed from the round, compact, 4-color Burmese breed.  This breed of cat has six more colors.  The European Burmese cats are moderate, gently rounded cats with a longer body and head.

• Luminous eyes
• Striking colors
• Exceptionally beautiful
• Silky, close-lying coat and harmonious conformation
• Medium in size and length
• Solid, hefty body
• Yellow to amber eyes
• Colors in brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream and the brown, blue, chocolate, and lilac tortie colors

Personality Description

• Exceptional calmness
• Friendly
• Inquisitive and playful nature
• Will follow their humans around the home
• Will park themselves in the same room somewhere near their humans
• Lap cats
• Most European Burmese adore children
• It is advisable to allow children to meet the kittens before choosing.  The European Burmese kittens or cats that like children will gravitate toward them.
• Intelligent
• Some can learn to open doors
• Laid-back temperament

Grooming Tips

• The European Burmese require very little grooming because of their short, close-lying coats and natural cleanliness
• Regular face-washing with a warm, damp washcloth (without soap) is appropriate
• Weekly nail-clipping and ear-cleaning (with a cotton swab) are also needed
• Occasional brushing can reduce the already minimal shedding
• Most European Burmese cats keep themselves very clean and do not have to be bathed except before a show for show cats.
