The Siberian cat is a fairly new breed being introduced into the United States in 1990.  It is also fairly rare.  This cat can be seen in Russian paintings and writings hundreds of years old.  There is increasing interest in Siberian cats worldwide and they are currently accepted in all registries.

• Medium to large cat
• Overall appearance of excellent physical condition, massive strength, power and alertness
• Sweet facial expression
• Females are considerably smaller than males
• Eye color varies from gold to green and all shades in between
• Dense, water-resistant triple coat medium to long in length
• Colors including colorpoints are brown, red, blue, silver, white, black, and any combinations of these colors, solid, spotted, ticked, mackerel, and classic patterns.  The most common color is a brown mackerel tabby with or without white

Grooming Tips

• They are self grooming
• Remain relatively tangle free
• Males tend to get knots in the springtime if not combed daily
• Do not shed much, they molt twice a year
• When the Siberian molts, the hair will start to mat and then shed in large clumps
• Some shed constantly and profusely
• Show grooming is more extensive
