The Turkish Van originated centuries ago around the Lake Van area that is now part of Turkey.  What is best known about this breed is its distinctive van pattern.
The Turkish Angora cat is one of the ancient, naturally-occurring cat breeds.  They originated in central Turkey.  Most of these cats have a white, silky, medium-long length coat, no undercoat and fine bone structure.

Tonkinese cats are a recent cross between the Siamese and Burmese cat breeds.  Some claim that Tonkinese-like cats have existed since at least the early 1800s.
The Sphynx is also known as a Canadian Hairless cat.  It is rare and most known for its lack of a coat.  It appears to be hairless; however, it is not truly hairless.
The Somali is a long-haired Abyssinian cat.  This breed appeared spontaneously in the 1950s from Abyssinian breeding programs.  Unlike most long-haired cats, Somalis shed very little.

The Singapura is a cat breed reportedly established from three “drain cats” imported from Singapore in the 1970s.  It was later revealed the cats were originally sent to Singapore from the United States before they were exported back to the US.

The Siberian cat is a fairly new breed being introduced into the United States in 1990.  It is also fairly rare.  This cat can be seen in Russian paintings and writings hundreds of years old.
The Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognized of the Oriental cats.  The exact origin is unknown, but it is felt the Siamese came from Southeast Asia in Thailand.
The Scottish Fold cat is a breed with naturally occurring mutation to its ears.  The ear cartilage contains a fold so the ears bend forward and down towards the front of the head.

The Russian Blue cat is a naturally occurring breed originating in the port of Arkhangelsk, Russia.  They are also called “Archangel Blues.”  They were probably first brought to England by sailors.
